Question:
I have encountered a fatal error when booting my printer. When turning on the unit, the carriage moves, then the APG motor lowers the rail, and the system throws a fatal error. I have checked the APG marks, and they are aligned.
When I retrieve the error codes, I get 71H, 70H, or 05H.
Additionally, when checking the initial setup, the model and serial number display a message indicating that something went wrong. When I click on 'perform', it shows that the main board cannot be used.
Is this a main board problem, and can you repair it if I send it to you?
Answer:
Thank you for reaching out to us at BCH Technologies. We sincerely apologize for not being able to respond sooner. We understand that printer issues are often urgent and can be frustrating. We want to make sure to address your concerns thoroughly and with the utmost care. Your support and engagement with our YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies) are invaluable, and your feedback helps us enhance our technical knowledge and services.
The error codes you are encountering—71H, 70H, and 05H—are significant indicators of underlying issues. Typically, 71H and 70H errors relate to the APG (Auto Paper Gap) sensor. These codes often indicate a malfunction or misalignment of the sensor. To gain further insights and potential fixes, we recommend checking out our blog post on How to Fix Error Code 71H on Epson L1800 DTF Printer: APG Unit and Sensor Troubleshooting (https://bchtechnologies.com/blogs/blog/how-to-fix-error-code-71h-on-epson-l1800-dtf-printer-apg-unit-and-sensor-troubleshooting).
On the other hand, 05H typically points to a carriage return problem. It may indicate a mechanical issue where the carriage is not moving as expected. It is essential to inspect the carriage assembly and ensure that no debris or mechanical obstruction is present.
Additionally, it's important to note that the Adjustment Program will always display the last five error codes. Even if your printer started correctly afterward, it would still display these previous errors. Therefore, some of the codes might not necessarily be related to the current issue.
As for the message indicating that the main board cannot be used, it suggests a potential problem with the mainboard itself. However, without a thorough physical inspection, it is difficult to determine the exact cause. It might be related to a firmware issue, a faulty sensor connection, or a mainboard failure. We recommend bringing the printer to our diagnostic facility for an accurate assessment.
Addressing printer issues can be a complicated affair due to the hands-on nature of the problems. So, we're not able to provide remote troubleshooting, suggestions, or support for printer repairs. We offer an in-person evaluation and repair service via our local diagnostic facility (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service). Given the high demand, we operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so it might take a few weeks before we can get your printer to drop it off. Our services are structured to repair either a whole printer or specific parts, with clear instructions on how to proceed. However, we acknowledge that our rates aren't the most economical. Thus, we highly recommend that you resort to self-help via online research. You can start by checking out YouTube (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies) or visiting our YouTube channel's homepage. Look for specific videos using the search icon next to 'About' on the right-hand side of the menu bar.
We receive numerous queries daily asking about videos for specific topics. Having created videos over the past nine years, it's challenging to recall each one. Therefore, using YouTube's search function is the most efficient method. Plus, YouTube may also suggest other relevant videos from different channels that could be of assistance.
We greatly appreciate your continued support and engagement. Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need further assistance.
