Why does my Epson ET-2850 grind when the printhead moves to the park position? The paper feed and everything else work fine, but I can't determine why this noise is happening.

Regarding the grinding sound you're hearing with your Epson ET-2850, this could be due to a few different causes. In addition to potential issues with the capping station or dirty rails, the grinding noise could be linked to the printhead lock mechanism. This mechanism secures the printhead carriage when it moves to the parked position. If the gear controlling the lock is out of sync, it could cause resistance or misalignment, making the printer "struggle" when the printhead moves into the park position.
Inspect the printhead lock mechanism to troubleshoot to see if you feel comfortable opening up your printer. Look for any signs of misalignment or damage to the gear mechanism that controls the printhead's movement. Cleaning the area and properly aligning the gears can sometimes resolve this issue. Be careful not to force any parts; they can be delicate, and forcing components might cause further damage.
If the grinding continues or you're uncomfortable disassembling the printer, feel free to contact us at support@bchtechnologies.com for more detailed troubleshooting steps.
