Question:
I have an Epson EcoTank printer that I’ve barely used since purchasing it two years ago. I set it up last year, but it won’t print anything—no color, no black, nothing. Please help!
Answer:
To begin, double-check to make sure that the ink tanks are not only full but are also filled with the correct ink. Assuming the tanks are good, next you prime the dampers. You can follow this helpful YouTube video guide (https://youtu.be/JT0aG-_pYes?si=dgj4LYFELFK36d8Z) for step-by-step instructions on this process.
After priming the dampers, print a nozzle check from your printer’s maintenance menu. If it still doesn't, do 2-3 head clean cycles. Just don’t do more than 3 cycles in a row—give the printer a break between cleanings or it might overheat.
If the nozzle check still isn’t flawlessly uniform, use the cleaning schedule below for best results:
Day One:
- Do the cleaning function three times, or until the nozzle check is perfect.
- Switch off the printer for a period of time at least 10 minutes.
- Perform the cleaning subprocess three times more (or until nozzle check looks great).
- If the nozzle check is still imperfect, stop and wait 12 hours before resuming.
Day Two:
- Do the cleaning function 3 times, or as needed, until the nozzle check is perfect.
- Switch the printer off for 10 mins or more.
- Run the cleaning function three more times or until the nozzle check is perfect.
However, if you run a nozzle check and it is still imperfect after doing this schedule, please contact us. You can have one or two missing pixels in the nozzle check but your nozzle check should be perfect.
Print at least one page a day to avoid future clogs. If a clog does form, repeat this cleaning process as necessary.
