Printer Mainboard Soldering the F1 Fuse

Question:

I recently bought a few F1 fuses from BCH Technologies but couldn't find the soldering video mentioned in the product description. Please share the relevant link or instructions for soldering the fuse back on the mainboard.

Answer:

How to Find the Right Video on Soldering

Our BCH Technologies YouTube channel has plenty of soldering guides and techniques. Here’s how to find the video that’s most relevant to you:

Visit our YouTube channel: BCH Technologies YouTube Channel.

Utilise the channel’s search function ( 🔍 ) — separate from the main YouTube search.

Search "soldering F1 fuse, " "microscope review," or whatever you are trying to fix/learn about.

It's repair requires working on tiny components, such as the F1 fuse, so our microscope review videos show extensive fine soldering work.

Soldering the F1 Fuse – Tips

Subsequently, you don't do any soldering yourself. A few points to remember:

Micro-Soldering: A microscope is recommended for this type of micro-soldering work. It lets you see the little solder pads clearly and stops the other components from being damaged.

Select an appropriate soldering iron tip. Minimal fuses are best soldered using a fine-point soldering iron or a hot air rework station. If the big-tip soldering iron is out, it may destroy the board or cause it to overheat.

Apply flux before soldering. This helps with solder flow and creates a strong connection, especially for small solder joints.

Removing the Old Fuse: If the old fuse is still on, use a hot air station and tweezers to desolder it carefully. Be careful not to touch the surrounding traces.

Insert New Fuse: Place the new fuse correctly, then solder. A tiny dot of solder paste can help you hold that in place.

Evenly Apply Heat: When using a soldering iron, gently touch the pad and let the solder melt. If you are using a hot air station, apply hot air gradually. Overheating the board is not good.

Check the Connection: Inspect the joint under a microscope once the solder dries to confirm it’s solid. You should also be able to confirm continuity using a multimeter.

For those starting from scratch, I highly recommend looking up “micro soldering” on YouTube for many tutorial videos. The example of soldering the F1 fuse is demonstrated in many ways, and excellent resources are available on how to solder correctly, even small parts.
