Master the Art of Refilling HP 45 and Color Cartridges

Question:

Is there a way to refill HP color cartridges in the same way as the HP 45 cartridge?

Answer:

The answer to your query is yes. In fact, the refill process for both the HP 45 black cartridge is similar to that of the color cartridges like that of HP 40, HP 15, HP 45, C8842A, 45si, CG339A, and 51645A color cartridges and therefore the same approach can be used to refill them. Although these are very similar refill processes, I have put together the detailed step by step refilling guide to help you out in getting a successful refill on your color cartridges.

Prepare the Cartridge & Workspace:

  • Lay the cartridge down on a surface you do not mind getting ink on.
  • Prepare some refill ink, a syringe, gloves and a clean. lint-free cloth.

Locate the Ink Refill Ports:

  • Typically the refill port for HP cartridges (including HP 45 and compatible color cartridges) will be located under the top label. Gently peel away the label to expose these tiny holes.

Match the Colors:

  • For color cartridges, locate the right ink reservoir for each color (cyan, magenta, yellow). Now, these are typically arranged in a triangular fashion. You can confirm this by gently poking a toothpick into the individual ports to see what color ink is there.

Refill Each Color:

  • To prevent cross-contamination, use a clean syringe for each color.
  • Using the syringe, suck up the correct colored ink (approximately 5–10 ml in each chamber, more if the cartridge is larger).
  • Gradually fill the appropriate refill port with ink, taking care not to exceed it.

Seal and Clean:

  • So after refilling, you can either reseal the ports with tape or leave the ports open when the design will allow it.
  • Clean the cartridge’s surface to decant excess ink.

Prime the Cartridge (Optional)

  • If your printer has difficulty recognizing the refilled cartridge, you can lightly dab the print head on a damp paper towel for a few seconds until ink begins to run freely.

Test Print:

  • Insert the cartridge into your printer and make a test print to ensure all colors dispense correctly.

You would now be able to refill your HP shade cartridges if you pursue this process. From cleaning the print head to visiting refill ink with great quality for regular maintenance, and you will have optimal performance.

Printer problems tend to be hands-on and can therefore be complex to deal with. We cannot provide advice or troubleshooting on printers or support to repairs of printers. There is also a local diagnostic facility at https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service for an in-person evaluation and repair service also, we run first come first serve due to the high amount of demand so it may take a few weeks for us to get your printer just to drop it off. We can offer repair services for either an entire printer or select components, with straightforward guidance on how to initiate our assistance. Still, we know that our rates are not the cheapest. So we strongly encourage you to seek your own help through the internet. You can also check out our Youtube channel homepage (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies); to search for a video, click the search icon on the upper right side of the menu bar, next to "About." Every day I get a dozen requests for video on a particular topic. Having made videos for the last nine years, it’s pretty hard to keep track of every single one. YouTube’s search function should work best for this purpose. And YouTube may recommend related clips from other channels that can help you.
