Managing Ink Flushing Delays Without Damaging Your Printer

Question:

I was able to flush the black ink from my printer’s tank but haven’t done the cartridge for the other colors yet. Is it fine to leave the printer for a couple of days and then flush out the other colors?

Answer:

To answer your question, it’s usually safe to use black sublimation ink and leave color cartridges that still have regular ink in them. But the one thing you should never do is leave your printer dormant for a few days, particularly after doing something with the ink system. Printers need regular runs on the line to prevent ink from drying out in the nozzles or clogging the system. If you’re going to wait to flush out the remaining colors, make sure you get a few test pages printed every day to keep that ink flowing and the printhead fine. This simple measure can spare you from clogged nozzles (and extra maintenance) later on.
