Question
I am trying to refill my Canon printer cartridge but cannot identify where the fill hole is located. Do I need to make a hole in the cartridge to add ink, or is there an existing fill hole that I might have missed?

Regarding your question, Canon cartridges, unlike some other brands, typically do not have a traditional fill hole. Instead, Canon fills the cartridges with ink (or an ink-soaked sponge) before sealing them with a glued cover. To refill these cartridges, you will need to create your own fill holes.
How to Create Fill Holes in Canon Cartridges:
-
Color Cartridge:
-
Drill three holes: one in the upper middle, one in the lower left, and one in the lower right of the cartridge cover.
-
-
Black Cartridge:
-
Drill one hole anywhere on the cover, as the internal structure allows ink to be evenly distributed.
-
Alternative Method:
Some users prefer to use the air hole as a fill point. To locate it, peel off the label on the top of the cartridge. You will find small pinholes for each color. These pinholes are ideal locations for drilling since they are already positioned to distribute ink effectively.
Be cautious when drilling to avoid damaging internal components. Once the holes are made, you can inject the ink directly through them. After refilling, you may seal the holes with a small piece of tape to prevent leakage.
Addressing printer issues can be a complicated affair due to the hands-on nature of the problems. Therefore, we are not able to provide remote troubleshooting, suggestions, or support for printer repairs. We offer an in-person evaluation and repair service via our local diagnostic facility (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service). Given the high demand, we operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Thus, it might take a few weeks before we can evaluate your printer. Our services cover either the whole printer or specific parts, and we provide clear instructions on how to proceed. While our rates may not be the lowest, we encourage exploring self-help through online resources. Start by visiting YouTube or our YouTube channel's homepage (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies), and use the search function for relevant videos. YouTube may also suggest helpful videos from other channels.
We truly appreciate your continued support and hope this information helps resolve your issue. Please feel free to reach out if you have any more questions.
