Check the CR Scale (Encoder Strip)
The CR scale, also known as the timing strip or clear belt, is a thin transparent film with fine black lines that runs behind the printhead carriage. Its purpose is to help the printer determine the exact position of the printhead as it moves left and right. If this strip becomes dislodged, dirty, or not seated properly into the CR sensor (the small reader on the printhead carriage), the printer loses positional feedback and triggers an error-causing the gears to spin endlessly and all lights to flash.-
Open the top cover and locate the clear strip running horizontally behind the carriage.

Check whether the strip passes through the small black reader located on the printhead assembly. If it's above or below that slot instead of inside, carefully guide it through the reader.

Make sure the strip is centered and taut between the two anchor points on either side.
