Question:
How to Replace a Fuse | Epson · I want to replace the F1/F2 fuse on my Epson XP-15000, for a DTF printer repair as a YouTube video advised. But I’m unable to find the correct fuse here in the UK. I’ve been to several stores, and what I saw on AliExpress and Amazon is too big. Local stores do not help and send me to Epson, which is not low-cost. Is there a specific manufacturer that I can use? Any guidance would be very much appreciated!
Answer:
Reconnect Your Epson XP-15000 by Redefining Its Fuse
The issue in the XP-15000 is caused by the need to replace the F1/F2 fuse, which requires the appropriate size and ampere. These repairs mostly use a small surface-mount fuse (SMD fuse).
Where To Buy The Right Fuse:
Now you can buy the same fuse we use to fix Epson XP-15000 at BCH Technologies:
F1/F2 Fuse for Epson Mainboard Repair.
In the UK, it is nearly impossible to find. Try googling SMD 2A or 3A fuse 0603 size, one of the electronic component suppliers. I used RS Components — Farnell, Mouser UK, etc.
AliExpress and Amazon can be hit or miss because many sellers list larger-sized fuses that don't fit. Check for the actual sizes (typically, 0603 or 0805 SMD format).
Replacing Fuse on XP-15000
Step 1: Check the Defective Fuse
Remove the printer's cover and locate the mainboard. It is usually located close to the cutoff current circuit.
Check for continuity with a multimeter. A blown fuse won’t let the multimeter show a connection.
Step 2: Remove the Blown Fuse
Use fine-point tweezers and a solder pencil with a fine-point tip.
Use flux to aid solder flow. Gently desolder the fuse so as not to damage the board.
Step 3: Install the New Fuse
Ensure the replacement fuse is orientated correctly on the PCB.
Solder one end and secure it, then solder the other end.
Make sure you don't have any solder bridges.
Step 4: Test the Printer
Turn on the printer and see if the old 0x9A or 031006 error has moved.
If the printer still isn't working, more damage may be done to the circuit board.
Additional Support
Printer-specific electronic components are not always easy to find, especially outside of the major markets. Not every UK supplier will have these fuses available, so if possible, look internationally.
