Fix Firmware Downgrade Freezes on Epson Artisan 1430

Question:

I have followed your instructions to downgrade the firmware on my Epson Artisan 1430. It freezes at 59% when I try to download the newest firmware. What is causing this, and how do I fix it?

Answer:

A firmware downgrade freeze at 59% or at a fixed point generally indicates a problem at the level of hardware — with the version of the firmware currently installed on the mainboard or with its possible compatibility with the already chosen downgrade process. If the normal downgrade method isn't doing the trick, one approach is to use a paid application like WICReset that can enforce a firmware overwrite. It serves as a workaround when all normal downgrade methods fail.

Or grab the correct EEPROM data from another known good mainboard[Adjustment Program or whatever]. That approach needs a working mainboard with the needed firmware revision. In contrast, in advanced users, you can also provide a custom programmer to rewrite EEPROM. You could, of course, completely reset it by setting all bits to zero and writing a new set of binary files. That being said, this process is complicated and should only be attempted if you are adept at extracting EEPROM data and using programming tools.

For printer firmware and hardware changes that will be as hardware-mods (they are precise and hands-on), we are unable to provide remote troubleshooting. That said, we offer local evaluation and repair through our diagnostic center (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service) with appointments being on a first come first serve basis and therefore may have a wait time.
