Question:
I have a Procolored Epson L1800 DTF printer that suddenly won't power on. During a printhead cleaning, the printer stopped and would not turn back on. The page and ink lights on the front are dimly flashing together. Inside, one of the circuit boards has four flashing lights-two bright green, and two dimmer blue and yellow. Based on your videos, I suspect a motherboard problem. I plan to purchase your motherboard repair service and would like to know the current wait time for repairs, and when I should send the board in. I already have it packaged and ready to ship.
Answer:
From what you've described-dim flashing page and ink lights, along with multiple board LEDs showing unusual patterns-your suspicion of a motherboard issue is correct. These symptoms are consistent with a mainboard failure. The mainboard acts as the printer's central hub, and if it shorts or burns, the printer will either fail to power on or display erratic light patterns like you're seeing.
Currently, our turnaround time for motherboard repairs is about one week. You can go ahead and ship your packaged mainboard to us. Once we receive it, we'll get it in queue for evaluation and repair.
That said, it's important to also check related components before reinstalling a repaired board. If the printhead or the FFC (Flat Flexible Cable) connected to the board are damaged or shorted, they could cause the newly repaired mainboard to fail again. For example:
-
Printhead Issues: If the head has internal shorts, it can overload the board's circuits.
-
FFC Cable Problems: A cracked or improperly seated FFC cable can cause intermittent shorts, leading to motherboard burnout.
Before reinstalling the repaired mainboard, carefully inspect these parts. If either looks compromised, consider replacing them alongside the mainboard repair to avoid repeat failures.
Addressing printer issues can be complicated because of the hands-on work involved. For this reason, we cannot provide remote troubleshooting or direct repair support. We do offer in-person diagnostic and repair services (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service) at our local facility, which operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Depending on demand, it may take a few weeks to process. Our service options include full printer repairs or specific component-level work, with clear instructions provided. While we recognize that our rates are not the lowest, we always encourage users to supplement with self-help resources. You may find it useful to search directly on our YouTube channel's homepage (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies) by clicking the search icon next to the "About" tab. This is often the fastest way to find detailed repair tutorials, including ones we've created over the past nine years.
