DTF Printer Troubleshooting: Solving White and Blue Flashing Button Errors

Question: Hey Kevin, I’m having issues with the white and blue buttons flashing on my DTF printer. Do you have any idea why they are flashing?
Answer:
1. Lights Flashing Alternately: This typically signals that the printer’s waste ink tank needs to be reset. Modern printers track the amount of ink discharged into the waste pad, and once it reaches a specific limit, the printer halts operation to prevent overflow.
To resolve this issue:
-
Obtain the Adjustment Program specific to your printer model. If you’re unsure where to find it, check with your printer’s supplier, as most sellers provide this software.
-
Use the Adjustment Program to reset the waste pad counter. This step will clear the error and allow the printer to function normally.
2. Lights Flashing Simultaneously: When both lights flash at the same time, it often indicates a fatal error. This can result from a mechanical failure, a firmware issue, or other internal problems.
To diagnose and troubleshoot this:
-
Open the Adjustment Program and navigate to the Particular Adjustment menu.
-
Select Printer Info to view the last five fatal error codes. The most recent error will be at the top.
-
Identify the issue based on the error code. Here are some standard codes and their meanings:
-
E-01: Paper jam or obstruction.
-
E-10: Print head or carriage motor problem.
-
E-91: Communication error between the printer and the computer.
-
Other General Steps:
-
Perform a visual inspection to ensure no paper jams or obstructions are causing the issue.
-
Check the printer’s firmware and update it if necessary.
-
Run a cleaning cycle to confirm the print head is functioning correctly.
