Question:
I watched your video "Turn Any USB Printer Wireless with This Gadget - Xiiaozet LK100EW Full Setup & Test!" and wanted to know-can you connect an iPad to a printer using the LK100EW device?
(Watch the video on YouTube)
Answer:
The Xiiaozet LK100EW is essentially a USB-to-Ethernet/Wi-Fi print server. It allows printers that normally connect only via USB to instead be shared over a network, making them accessible to multiple computers connected to the same router. However, it's important to note that this device does not support Apple's AirPrint protocol, which is what iPads and iPhones rely on for wireless printing.
In other words, while the LK100EW can make your printer visible to Windows or macOS computers on your local network, it will not appear as an available printer on an iPad because iOS devices can only print through AirPrint-enabled printers or via third-party apps that provide their own print service.
Here are your main options if you want to print from an iPad:
-
Use an AirPrint-compatible printer. Apple maintains a list of supported printers that can connect directly to your iPad without extra hardware.
-
Use a third-party print app such as PrintCentral Pro or PrinterShare. Some of these apps can connect to networked printers like the one shared through the LK100EW.
-
Print through a computer acting as a bridge. If your printer is connected via LK100EW to a computer on your network, you can install software (e.g., handyPrint or O'Print) that enables AirPrint sharing. Your iPad will then see the printer through that intermediary computer.
So, while the LK100EW is a clever and affordable way to make a USB printer wireless, it's not a complete AirPrint solution for Apple devices. For that purpose, you'll need additional software or hardware support.
Addressing printer issues can be a complicated affair due to the hands-on nature of the problems. Therefore, we're not able to provide remote troubleshooting, suggestions, or support for printer repairs. We offer an in-person evaluation and repair service via our local diagnostic facility (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service). Given the high demand, we operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so it might take a few weeks before we can get your printer dropped off and assessed. Our services are structured to repair either a whole printer or specific parts, with clear instructions on how to proceed. However, we understand that our rates might not be the most economical, so we highly recommend exploring self-help resources online. You can start by searching our YouTube channel's homepage (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies). Use the search icon next to "About" on the right-hand side of the menu bar to locate videos related to your specific topic. YouTube may even suggest relevant videos from other creators that could further help you.
Thank you again for your question and continued support. We appreciate your curiosity and engagement-it's what keeps our community learning and growing together.
