Question:
I did a sponge-less upgrade on my printer lately. The black ink is working perfectly, but I have an error of communication that the color ink cartridge is giving. Would you happen to have any tips on how to fix this?
Solution:
Thanks for contacting BCH Technologies. I'm sorry for not answering your question. I realize printer problems are usually urgent, and I want to assure you that I’ve considered your question carefully to provide a thorough answer. We at BCH Technologies highly appreciate the support you have been providing. This allows us to improve our technical landscape and keep providing you with helpful content.
To address your issue:
Ensure the Cartridge is Fully Seated:
- Take out the color cartridge from the printer.
- Look at the electronic ribbon for ink stains or sticky residue. If you see any, wipe very gently with a paper towel.
- Look at the brass pins on the printer’s cartridge slot. Be sure they are clean and dry.
- Reinsert the cartridge, reseating it a few times to improve the connection.
- Printer cartridges have a reference resistor that the printer heats up and compares to the resistance of the nozzles.
- A significant difference in the resistance measurement between the reference resistor and the nozzles could cause the printer to mark certain nozzles as failed.
- If this number exceeds a threshold, the cartridge is considered unusable, and further replacement is stopped.
Choosing Replacement Cartridges:
- For more empty cases, try looking for your cartridge model on eBay with the word “empty virgin.” Virgin cartridges have never been refilled and are best suited for refilling.
- Could you steer clear of remanufactured cartridges? These often utilize recycled OEM parts, which can have damaged nozzles. Their outer chips designed to overwrite OEM data can be defective in the presence of humidity, which is common in Asia.
With many printer issues, troubleshooting can be tricky because it relies on a hands-on approach. So that you know, we can't provide remote troubleshooting or make repairs. However, we have a local diagnostics location (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service) that can evaluate and repair by hand, but please bear in mind this is first come, first serve and can take several weeks for new customers. Whether you bring in one or multiple parts, we have a wide range of whole printer repairs or specific parts with step-by-step processes to initiate them. Our rates may not be the most reasonable. However, we do our best to encourage self-help through myriad online resources, including our YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies), where you can also use the search icon next to “About” to search for your specific topic. Thanks again for contacting us. We appreciate your patience and support and hope to be of further help to you in the future.
