Question:
I'm having a tough time reinstalling the dampers on my printer. I can't get the little metal bar into the back slot while locking the front simultaneously. I've already cracked one damper, and I'm worried I might be doing something wrong. How hard should I push, and could this mean my print head isn’t installed correctly?
Answer:
The secret to the reinstallation of dampers is alignment. Improper alignment of the dampers can cause excessive force and damage the components. First, push the damper back and slide the little metal bar into the back slot, making sure it fits properly. The front will then click into place with a gentle push after aligning. If you need more than a light amount of pressure to pull it apart, re-check the alignment and ensure the print head is seated.
