Resolving Epson ET-2750 E-301 Errors: Encoder Disc and Sensor Fixes

Question: I have an Epson ET-2750, and the clear encoder wheel fell off. I reinstalled it as shown in a video, but when I power it back up, the printer starts until it moves to the left side, makes a noise, and then displays the same E-301 error. The clear plastic wheel appears to stay in place on the left side, and thereโs no visible paper jam. What could be wrong?
Answer:
The E-301 error usually has to do with the encoder discโthe interior clear wheelโand the sensor that reads its movement. Even with the encoder disc looking firmly in place, here's what to do to make sure it's working:
Verify Encoder Disc Installation:
Make sure the encoder disc is attached to the paper feed rod and turns with it; If the disc slips or isnโt glued completely, the sensor will not accurately track its movement, causing the error. If still wobbly, reapply glue and wait for the disc to dry.
Inspect the Sensor Alignment:
Take a look at the sensor that reads the encoder disc. Make sure its alignment and position is able to track the clear wheel properly. Even a slight misalignment will cause the sensor to read incorrectly or not at all. Properly align the ard that it is centered with the disc
Check out the Flat Flexible Cable (FFC)
An FFC connects the sensor to the printerโs mainboard. Make sure this cable is seated all the way in its connector and in the right orientation. A cable plugged loosely or in reverse can lead to the sensor not sending accurate data to the control board.
Inspect for Damage:
Inspect the encoder disc and sensor for cracks, wear, or damage to either component. The fault may be the replacement of a broken disc of encoder or sensor that would restore its work.
If despite these steps the problem persists, it is likely a deeper issue with the printer's mainboard or control logic. In those cases, a professional will likely need to inspect it.
Because the problems are hands on, fixing printer problems can be a complicated affair. We cannot assist you with remote troubleshooting, workarounds or printer repairs. We provide an on-site check and repair service (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service) by means of our local diagnostic facility. Due to demand, we operate on a first come first served basis and it may take us a few weeks to book you for a drop off.
