Question:
I’m determining if a product will help unclog my white DTG printhead. How can I know for sure? Do you have a service where I could send my 5113 printhead to you for cleaning?
Answer:
We apologize for the trouble and appreciate you contacting us! Below, we are thankful for your interest in BCH Technologies and, in particular, on our YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies). Your feedback helps us in our effort and continues sharing budding insights with the printing community.
First of all, we apologize for not getting to your question sooner. If your DTG printhead is giving you grief, then we fully know how it can be a fitting manner of urgency. These are challenging problems to think through, and we want to ensure we respond thoughtfully and usefully.
In response to your first question, realizing that no product can guarantee to unblock a white DTG printhead is essential. Therefore, to answer your question, we do not know if our product can work on your printhead. Printhead clogs, particularly with white inks, can happen for various reasons, including improper upkeep, expired or incompatible ink, and extended dormancy. White ink formulations are not only more prone to clogs, but they are also tricky for ink to settle on.
Below are some things you might try in terms of coping with the issue:
Manual Inspection and Flushing:
Please remove the printhead and examine it closely. A dedicated DTG printhead cleaning solution, such as the BCH flushing solution, can gently flush the nozzles. The solution is highly concentrated and must be diluted to the correct ratio according to the instruction. You should also use the right tools—for instance, a syringe with an adapter—to avoid damaging the delicate nozzles.
Soaking the Printhead:
Soaking the printhead in a cleaning solution can help dissolve hardened ink for stubborn clogs. Using a shallow container, submerge the nozzles — not the electronic bits — in the solution for a few hours.
Ultrasonic Cleaning:
Occasionally, an ultrasonic cleaner is used to unblock the printheads' manifold. Please do not use it directly on the printhead itself. To do this, you separate the manifold from the printhead and put the manifold into the ultrasonic cleaner with cleaning solutions. Be sure that what you use to clean the head is compatible with its material; the wrong cleaning can corrode or damage it.
Preventive Maintenance:
Agitate ink cartridges regularly to prevent them from settling, mainly white ink, to minimize clogs later. Perform scheduled maintenance, including nozzle checks and cleaning cycles, as your printer manufacturer recommends.
We are sorry that BCH Technologies does not currently offer shipping and unclogging services for printheads. Our local diagnostic facility, through which we provide in-person services, repairs complete printers or parts (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service). However, this does not cover offsite cleaning of the printheads.
Additional Note:
Resolving printer problems can be a tricky business because repairs are physical. Although we try to help, it is not for remote troubleshooting in any way because we leverage previous training knowledge. Start with our YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies) for detailed troubleshooting and printer maintenance videos. Use the search icon next to the "About" tab to locate specific topics, or check out other recommended videos from the platform that might address your concerns.
