Now, we can just head on to your problem with your Uninet 100 DTF printer.
Why is white ink not printing?
If the printer is printing other colors correctly but not white, chances are the white ink system is at fault, and there is no electrical or mechanical problem. The fact that all the other colors are working means there is nothing wrong with the printhead or the mainboard. The most common cause of white ink failure is clogging — DTF printers, in particular, struggle with clogged nozzles due to the composition of the white ink.
Reasons Behind White Ink Clog:
Ink Blocking Within the Lines or Nozzle:
- Because white ink is thicker than other colors, it can easily clog and is more susceptible to settling and drying inside the cartridge. If you haven’t used the ink for some time, dried ink may be blocking the lines or the nozzles.
- If you don't mind, you may wish to clean the printhead. That said, follow the manufacturer’s instructions on how to do a proper cleaning cycle. Avoid manually triggering any cleaning cycles, as this can cause permanent damage to the printhead.
Ink Cartridge or Line Blockage:
- If you have just replaced the ink or the lines, some white ink lines may have air bubbles or are clogged. Ensure that the ink lines connecting to the white ink cartridge are clear and free of resistance. If nothing works, running a manual cleaning cycle through the printer may clear up any minor blockages in the lines.
Air bubbles in lines of white ink:
- Air bubbles can break the flow, making it impossible for the white ink to reach the printhead. If there are bubbles, gently prime the ink lines to clear them. Many DTF printers have a priming feature to help with this issue in their maintenance menu.
Printhead Nozzle Clog:
- The white ink can dry faster than the other colors and create nozzles in both the print heads that become clogged. That may prevent ink flow, blocking the flow of the white ink so it cannot print. You may need to clean the printhead manually, and some DTF machines will require a cleaning solution specialized for their machines.
Steps to Resolve the Issue:
Perform a Cleaning Cycle:
- First, do a cleaning cycle for the white ink. This will help unclog any minor air bubbles in the system.
- If the cleaning cycle does not resolve the problem, you must manually clean the printhead and ink lines. Your printer’s manual provides specific instructions on how to do this correctly.
Prime the White Ink Line:
- You can use a priming tool or perform a manual ink flow check to clear air bubbles or clogs in the lines. Online videos and guides can also help you do this and get the ink lines primed correctly.
Flush the White Ink Nozzles:
If you suspect the nozzles are clogged, flushing them with a specialized cleaning solution can help unclog them and improve the flow of white ink. Be careful about this process—over-cleaning can sometimes be damaging, so make sure to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Check Ink Consistency:
- Ensure your white ink is well-mixed and hasn't settled in the cartridges. If it has become thick or coagulated, it should be replaced, or it may need stirring to regain its fluidity.
