Question: Hi there, I watched your two videos on how to fix the ET-2800 when it throws the error 100016. This is a fairly new printer, and I don't think I've ever used the scanner portion before. I opened the printer to empty the EcoTank as it had sublimation ink in it, emptied them, put everything back, and added the ink. Went to start it back up, and it threw that error. The scanner portion was never touched, though the top was hanging a bit sideways when I was doing the tanks. After watching your videos, I took off the top, made sure the gears were on correctly, which they are, and made sure there were no obstructions in the line, but I noticed each time, the light isn't lighting up. The scanner tries to go to the left and then suddenly stops, makes a noise like it's trying to do something, goes back to the right, and then the error is thrown. Do you think this is the light? Is there a replacement light for this? Thank you for your help.

Given that you’ve observed the scanner light not turning on and the scanner head making an unusual noise, it's essential to address these points systematically:
- Physical Obstruction: This error often results from a physical obstruction. You should inspect the scanner to ensure that nothing is blocking its movement. Pay particular attention to whether the scanner's lamp is off the rail. For a visual guide, you can refer to our video on resolving physical obstructions in scanners [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dZ9YM6aFDU].
- FFC Cable Connection: The Flexible Flat Cable (FFC) of the scanner might have been pulled out or partially disconnected during your maintenance. Since you mentioned that the scanner head moves but the light doesn't turn on, it's worth checking if the FFC cable is securely connected. You can find detailed instructions on this process in our video about checking FFC cable connections [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTKtdRAHLxA].
By carefully examining these potential issues, you can narrow down the cause of the SCN_100016 error and take appropriate corrective actions.
Addressing printer issues can be a complicated affair due to the hands-on nature of the problems. So, we're not able to provide remote troubleshooting, suggestions, or support for printer repairs. We offer an in-person evaluation and repair service via our local diagnostic facility (https://bchtechnologies.com/printer-repair-service). Given the high demand, we operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so it might take a few weeks before we can get your printer to drop it off or mail it to us. Our services are structured to repair either a whole printer or specific parts, with clear instructions on how to proceed if you opt for mail-in or local drop-off services. However, we acknowledge that our rates aren't the most economical. Thus, we highly recommend that you resort to self-help via online research. You can start by checking out YouTube or visiting our YouTube channel's homepage [https://youtube.com/@bchtechnologies]. Look for specific videos using the search icon next to "About" on the right-hand side of the menu bar. I receive dozens of queries every day asking about videos for specific topics. Having created videos over the past nine years, it's challenging to remember every single one. Therefore, using YouTube's search function would be most efficient. Plus, YouTube might suggest relevant videos from other channels that could assist you.
Thank you once again for reaching out to us. We appreciate your support and hope this information helps you resolve the issue with your Epson ET-2800.
