Installing a Waste Ink Tank on Epson 1430 Printer - A Step-by-Step Guide

Welcome to BCH Technologies. Today, we're going to show you how to install a waste ink collection tank on your Epson 1430 printer. This tank will help extend the life of your printer by diverting waste ink into external tanks instead of letting it go to the waste ink pad.

If you're experiencing an error message that states, "A part inside your printer is at the end of its service life," it's time to install this tank. However, if you haven't received this error yet, it's still a good idea to install the tank to prevent future problems.

Before we begin, you'll need a pair of gloves, a Philips screwdriver, and the waste ink collection tank set. We're using the Epson 1430 as an example, but the process is similar for other models such as the 1400 and 1410.

First, remove the front panel by pressing it to the right and pulling it out towards you. Then, turn the printer around so the back is facing you. Remove the three screws and free the side panel. You don't need to remove the panel completely, just enough to give you access to the waste ink pad assembly.

Turn the printer back around and locate the three plastic tabs holding the side panel in place. Use your screwdriver to help loosen these tabs and lift up the side panel. You should now see the waste ink pad assembly.

Slide the metal clamp up and remove the ink tube from the assembly. For older models, use the included connector to attach the ink tube. Newer models have smaller diameters, so you can slide the ink tube inside and use the included cable tie to secure it.

You have a few options for routing the ink tube. You can leave the side panel as is and cut the ink tube shorter, place the waste tank beside the printer, or route the tube inside the printer and let it come out from the USB opening if you're only going to use wireless connection.

Once the ink tank is full, remove the tube and take the tank to a sink to drain it. It's that easy!
