How to Replace the Printhead WF-3720: Step-by-Step Guide

If you're experiencing print quality issues with your WF-3720 printer, it might be time to replace the printhead. While this may sound like a daunting task, it's actually a relatively simple process that you can do yourself with just a few basic tools. In this article, we'll provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to replace the printhead WF-3720. For further clarity, please watch the accompanying video on our website.

Before you get started, you'll need to purchase a replacement printhead. Fortunately, the WF-3720 uses a popular printhead, so you should be able to find a reasonably priced one easily.

Step 1: Power Down

To begin, power down your printer. Wait for the printhead to move to a position where it can be easily accessed, and then unplug the power cord. This will allow the printhead cartridge to be free and prevent any electrical mishaps while you work.

Step 2: Remove the Left Side Cover

On the left side of the printer, you'll see a small hole. Use a pin or paperclip to poke it, and then lift that side of the cover slightly.

Step 3: Remove the Right Side Cover

Moving to the right side, you'll see a tab. Lift the tab and push inside the small hole to remove the entire cover. If the cover is loose, lifting the tab might be sufficient to remove the cover without pushing inside the small hole.

Step 4: Remove the Printhead

Now that both covers are removed, lift the printhead up and place it on the top of the printer. There will be a long, thin tab on the piece you just removed. Pull it from the inside to detach it from the printhead. There are three screws holding the printhead in place, so remove them.

You'll notice a couple of tabs that prevent you from lifting the printhead straight up. To remove it, lift it up a little bit and then move the printhead towards you. Make sure that the metal part of the cable is towards the bottom.

Step 5: Install the New Printhead

To install the new printhead, start by making sure that the little serial number is facing towards you. Then flip it upside down and flip the cable upside down as well. Make sure the cable is clean before inserting it. Once the cable is inserted, flip the whole thing backwards. The little serial number label should still be facing towards you, and the metal part of the cable should still be towards the bottom.

Step 6: Reattach the Left Side Cover

Reattach the left side cable. There are two nipples on the ABS to guide you on where

to put the printhead back. Move the printhead around a bit and make sure that the nipple can be seen over the hole. The two holes inside the cover are for the screws, and the outside hole is for the guide. Put the screws back in and reattach the small cable box.

Step 7: Reattach the Right Side Cover

Finally, take the CSS thing and slide it down to lock it in place. Then reattach the right side cover. Simply place it back in its original position and press down until it clicks into place.

And that's it! You've successfully replaced the printhead on your WF-3720 printer. If you're still experiencing issues with print quality after replacing the printhead, it may be time to consider other troubleshooting options or seek professional assistance.
