How to Refill Plus Guard your ID Roller Stamp

We recently did a tutorial on how to fill stamps that weren’t originally intended to be refillable, but today we’re going to be focusing on a more specific type of stamp. This tutorial is to show you how to refill a non-refillable stamp made by Plus Guard your ID. This tutorial is not about stamps similar to this that are marketed as refillable.

The kind of stamp we’re working on has a removable cartridge, which makes our job a little bit easier. This cartridge isn’t meant to be refillable, but replacing it would cost around $8, so we’re going to refill it anyway. Start by removing the cartridge and cutting the stamp core open.

You’ll see that there’s a layer of rubber that’s covering a sponge cylinder. The first step to refilling this type of stamp is to remove the roller’s cover. From there, there are two different ways you could go about the rest of the process.

To start with, the rod comes off in two pieces. You could pull out the part of this that has a more extended rod and fill the space left behind with ink. If you choose this method, you’ll have to let the roller sit for a day or two in order for it to absorb all of the ink properly.

The second method is to use a rotary tool to drill two holes through the sponge. You then fill these holes up with ink using the precision tip on the BCH brand 30 mL ink bottle. This method is much faster as the sponge is able to start absorbing the ink as soon as you’re done and you can use the stamp again almost immediately, despite the fact that it will take 3-6 hours for the ink to absorb completely.

For a visual guide on how to do this process, I go through it in detail in this video and provide a demonstration. I also have hundreds of other helpful videos on my YouTube channel, Kevin at BCH. To buy the BCH brand 30 mL ink bottle, you can visit my website, BCHTechnologies.com.
