Today, we’re going to work on a Canon G7020 printer — and I’ll show you how to refill it, which ink you should use, how to convert it from pigment to dye ink, and more. If you’re unsure about where to buy your ink, you can always go to my website, BCHTechnologies, and order from there.
Which Ink or Ink Bottle to Use
To begin, you’ll need a specially designed ink bottle. You can use any bottle that can fit in with a needle. If you look, you’ll find that the cans in the intake of a canon printer split into two parts. With the needle on the bottle, stick the tips into any one of the parts.
If you watch the YouTube video I made about this, you can see pretty easily the ink tank split into two. I personally prefer to fit the needle into the right one. Once you fit it in, just squeeze the bottle, and you should be able to see the ink levels starting to rise.
As for the kind of ink you should use, I always recommend dye ink for colored ink and black ink. The printer's original black ink comes with is pigment, but the colors are usually dyed. However, you can still convert the black ink to dye.
On my website, I have an article about selecting pigment or dye ink and how to convert. If you have trouble finding it, you can text “PIGMENT” to (855)452-8332, and I will text you the link directly.
Refilling Ink
In the video, you can see that my black ink tank is almost empty. As long as the old OEM ink is less than 20%, I feel pretty comfortable just adding the dye ink into the tank. I’ll insert the link to my preferred ink choice here.
Once you put the dye ink in, print a few pages to get the printer used to the new ink. This will also make sure that the old ink doesn’t congregate and cause problems.
