Solved: Ink System Failure. There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists, contact HP.
The common cause of this problem is that you reset the printer's chip to full, but did not fill up the cartridge. During the operation, the cartridge runs out of ink, but the chip shows there should be some ink left in the cartridge. The printer will lock the cartridge's serial number, preventing you from using the same cartridge. Fortunately, the problem is easy to solve.
You will need a good set of cartridges. If you know which cartridge is causing the problem, you don't need a full set. This "good set" can be OEM cartridge, 3rd party cartridge, old cartridge, or new cartridge, as long as it still have ink in them. Put the good cartridges in the printer and print a page. Once the printer print a page, the printer will release the lock on all serial numbers. Therefore, you can put the first set of cartridges back.
