Here's how to do the back chamber refill method for XL cartridges. For XL cartridges, you can see the back chamber is full of ink. It serves as a supply tank to the front chamber. It works exactly like a pad or water dispenser, in which the back chamber seals the tank of ink, and it has a tiny opening at the bottom, so the ink will flow to the front chamber if there is any ink consumed at the front chamber. If the dog or your printer didn't consume any ink, it would have a little bit of ink in the front, but it holds most of the ink in the back.

We use a 902 cartridge as an example. Those are 902 XL cartridge which we bought from eBay. We cut one open. You can see it's completely dry, and I'm trying to show you it's a small opening on the bottom. We got this about a dollar a cartridge. There's no unique tool required. We use two of them. You don't have to use them. It's optional. One is those little silicone washers. Another one is the clips.

The silicone washer just gave you a better seal around the ink intake, so you are confident that ink will not leak. If you refill correctly, your cartridge shouldn't leak the ink at all. This is just a precaution. I like to install silicone washers just for peace of mind. You have a shorter side towards you, the longer side towards the printer, and then lay it down on top of it. We are going to drill a hole in the back chamber. If you remember our padded dispenser, our water dispenser analogy, we're going to have a big hole in the water tank. What happens is the ink going to flow out. To make it less messy, we have this protective clip. Okay, so at the bchtechnologies.com, go-to accessories and protective clip. I call it Poor mans X64 refill kit. Because the clip is made for multiple models, so it's pretty tight for a 902. You have to push it harder to get it in. Okay, you don't need to have this, but let me show you you can do the same thing with duct tape.

Now I start peeling off the label and expose the refill hole. Notice I don't peel the label all the way to know which color it is. If you peel the label off, it's pretty hard for you to tell which color it is.

I'm going to use a larger drill and a smaller drill to push the bow inside, and also, somebody recommended using a lighter and a paper clip.

I'll get the hole a little bit rounder and remove the debris.

Now with a smaller drill.

People suggested using a paper clip and a cigarette lighter. The goal is fishing the bow out, so you can use the bow as a plug, so you don't need a plug later. It went out, but we'll have to light it, but you can see how it's done.

The paper clip is too soft to poke it out, so you'll need something harder to poke it out.

For the plugs, you can go to accessories and the plug. The two plugs that work are 4-millimeter plugs. You want to get a clear plug with 4 millimeters, or you want to get those color 4 millimeters plugs. Both of them work. I don't recommend these green plugs, which are 3 millimeters. It's a little bit small. Okay, you don't need a plug. You can try to reinsert a bow or try the hard glue or something to seal it. Later, we are going to show you how to use a duct tape seal. Now we can start filling it with ink.

We use the ink from refill ink for HP, and then we click 120 mils here. We use this ID30-KCMY-AH, which has a full bottle of ink and the drill.

We fill it to the rim. We will seal it with a 3-millimeter plug we are not recommended, and we will show you what's going to happen. This printer is a pigment printer, so what I have left in the cartridge is dried pigment ink. We already added dye ink to it, so we converted it to a dye printer. This is not the best way. The best way is actually to add dye ink or add water to flush out the dried pigment. Then you add the dye ink to it. We will have another video to show you how to flush out a printer. Sometimes we in a hurry so we do it this way and do the unclogging with this cloth.

We'll show different methods to seal that cartridge. We have a 3 millimeter and a 4 millimeter clear, and the 4-millimeter color one. For the black, we're going to close it with a dark piece of duct tape. Now the whole cartridge is filled to the rim, and then we removed the seal on the bottom. If you refilled correctly, you should not have ink flowing out. If you see the ink flowing out like a faucet, then you have a problem. You might have a couple of ink drops but not a lot. This shows you that we remove the clip and set it on the top of the printer and with white paper underneath.

The blue is going to leak. This is what people complain about. As they complain after they refill, the ink keeps flowing out. The others should be fine. We sat there for 20 minutes. If you want to flush your cartridge, flush the dried pigment out. What you can do is, you can add water or ink and then unplug the top. Please fill it out, open the top and let the cartridge drip like this. BCH has a clear ink base, which is the ink without color. For example, you finally switch to dye ink, you can buy dye ink-based, and they can add dye ink based to their cartridge and flush the pigment out.

Twenty minutes later, this would happen. See the two four-millimeter plugs seal well, and the duct tape seal well, but not this green plug. Now we switch the plug to four millimeters, and we're ready to put it back to the printer. Remember to turn the chip info off and also do two consecutive cleanings before you use the printer. If the printer is clogged, do two or three cleanings, then wait two hours and do another cleaning after two hours.
